JOB OPENINGS HOLD
STEADY IN SEPTEMBER
The number of US job openings edged up by only 3,000 in
September from the prior month to 6.09 million, according to
seasonally adjusted numbers released today by the US Bureau of
Labor Statistics. Hires and separations were also little
changed.
Hurricane Irma made landfall in Florida during September.
"All possible efforts were made to contact and collect data from
survey respondents in the hurricane-affected areas," the agency
stated. "A review of the data indicated that Hurricane Irma had no
discernible effect on the JOLTS estimates for
September."

Bloomberg reported US job openings in September held near
a record high despite the fallout from hurricanes Harvey and Irma,
indicating a resilient job market.
