US job growth
accelerates in June, but wagesstill lagging
USjob growth surged more than expected in June and
employers increased hours forworkers, new figures show
today.
Theyare more signs of labour market strength that could
keep the US Federal Reserveon course for a third interest rate
increase this year despite benigninflation.
USnon-farm payrolls jumped by 222,000 jobs last month, the
Labor Department saidtoday, beating economists' expectations for a
179,000 gain.
